Dragon Sleigher

Getting someone to say "Wow, I've never seen something like that before," is tough these days - but when it happens, its always a treat. 

We took a stab at it with our latest Holiday card, mixing Chinese dragons, origami techniques, and St. Nick - with a little Nightmare Before Christmas thrown in for good measure.  The result was Dragon Sleigher - a short animation that can be seen here.

And because the concept art can, at times, be as beautiful as the finished piece, here's a sneak peek at a couple of the design comps. Enjoy!

Bad, Bad Beetle

The Asian Longhorned Beetle burrows into your trees and kills them - not very nice.  Crosby Marketing asked Bully to create an animated spot for the USDA designed to alert the public to the beetle's unique appearance.  Shown primarily in theaters you can watch here. 

Many good things are easy to spot - even in Black and White...

But this guy isn't so good.

He just looks mean.

Hooper and Miss Rosa spots

Working with director Joe Becker and the extraordinary ThinkFilm crew with post by Cerebral Lounge, we got to dig in deep with Hooper this summer, animating the talking Guinea pig in 40 interstitials for the '09 season of PBSKid's Hooper and Miss Rosa.  Scenes included Hooper in Scuba gear, riding a unicycle (with appropriate safety gear of course) and playing the bagpipes in a kilt - all comped into tracked RED shot footage.

Our NASA spin on the Elf Yourself genre, called Space Your Face, features your picture on a break dancing astronaut in any one of three space-based scenarios:  Get jiggy with the Mars Rover, throw down on the moon, or show off your meltdown beside to the Constellation - all to custom DJ Berkebile beats.  Check it out - spaceyourface.nasa.gov

To capture the true, natural essence of the new gourmet candies from Goetze, we had to taste test a few bags.  After recovering from our sugar crash we came up with a mix-media 2D/3D spot that even included some sweet stop motion from Mission Film/Jeff Schmale.

Bully won a total of 6 ADDYs at this years event.  Two were for the Discovery Health Gingerbreadman spots, one was for the Homegate spots, one for the Bell Chicken spots, and one each for the Storm Chaser's game and for tNASA Home and City.  Yipee!
